The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras Tragsa Group received the Award for Sustainable Rural Development (21/02/2010)

Tragsa Group, in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, has awarded the City of Puerto Lumbreras Award 'Sustainable Rural Development'.

According to the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, "Puerto Lumbreras is a city committed to environmental and sustainable development.

This award will enable us to continue working in this field, and develop both the proposed implementation of various theme trails on the head of the Jara to turn the town into a reference of Ecotourism. "

The project, awarded in the third edition of the awards nationally Tragsa Group, includes the commissioning of three new ecotours in the Youth Hostel Villa La Jara Cabezo the municipality.

Specifically, the trails are divided into three themes: 'Botany', 'Integrated Management of Water' and 'Astronomy'.

In this sense, the Mayor explained that "the paths will become an alternative educational, sporting and educational for nature lovers with thematic scenic drives."

Finally, the 'Path Astronomy' will use the location of the Astronomical Observatory of the municipality, and in turn will build solar and lunar clocks distributed over the place, creating a path for observation, contemplation and study of astronomy.
